The Beths are one of the biggest names in power pop right now, and they're one of those bands that pretty much everyone I know who can get everyone I know hyped when they announce new music. I think I remember reading once that they all met while studying jazz, and decided to make a band based on the pop-punk they loved in their youth. As a result, they found themselves with a devoted cult following early on, and now they're just plainly one of the biggest names in indie rock in general.
