More than any other band except maybe early Primal Scream, the Bodines sort of epitomize the whole idea of C86, with "Therese" second only to "Velocity Girl" when it comes to songs included on the original compilation. For quite a while, that was the only song of theirs I'd ever heard because Played was so difficult to get my hands on! I don't think I'd quite call them jangle pop, instead they probably fall about halfway between that and what the Wedding Present were doing at the time? The bass player also seems way more active than would be typical. I'm still not familiar enough outside of "Therese" to give a great description, but "Therese" deserves all the love it gets, honestly.
