Captain Wilberforce actually reminds me a lot of like an 80s college rock band? Not one of the murky ones like R.E.M. or The Reivers, but one of those bright and chiming ones like Let's Active or Game Theory. Sometimes they're pure jangle pop, sometimes they've got a bit of Merseybeat on the guitars, but not in an obvious pastiche way like The Spongetones (there I go again, comparing them to another 80s college rock band). I think they're definitely a worthy addition to anyone's power pop-listening routine.
