Cristina Quesada was always one of those artists that I thought of as being way too twee, even for me. From what I remember, she does a lot of these ultra-sugary, bubblegummy covers like "Pineapple Princess" (originally by Annette Funicello) off her EP of the same name. My understanding is that her later work gets a bit more disco, not so far off from someone like Sally Shapiro, though I've never really looked too much into that, honestly. Of course, all the other bands I used to think were way too twee even for me are among my favorites now, so maybe it's time I listen to something of Cristina's again?
