They're likely not to everyone's taste, but friends& are nevertheless at the forefront of the growing "laptop twee" subgenre, a term which was coined by JC of friends&, in fact. They're a very maximalist band, pretty much every second of every song is packed full of stuff, to the point of sensory overload. It makes it a bit hard to actually discern if there's even a song there, but I felt the same way about My Bloody Valentine once upon a time, too.
