Although it wasn't the first one I'd heard (that would be Talulah Gosh), Heavenly has always been my favorite of Amelia Fletcher's many bands. I think the reason for that appeal is that they manage to sit in a perfect sweet spot for several different factors: their discography is short enough to be easily binged, varied enough to keep me completely interested during said binge, but not so varied that any of the songs could be confused for anyone but Heavenly. Plus there's even a satisfying evolution in their sound, from the jangle pop of Heavenly vs. Satan through the riot grrrl of Atta Girl to the indie rock of Operation Heavenly, which deserved to be a worldwide hit, but unfortunately had to settle for #1 in my heart.
