In the liner notes of their debut EP, the Interpretation Cultures describe themselves as having a "easy, sweet, and hazy feel", which is a better summary than anything I could have come up with myself. There's a bit of everything in their music; sometimes it's kind of indietronica, sometimes it jangles, sometimes they rough it up a bit. And like, as a band that lists their influences as Stephin Merritt, Sarah Records, and the Shop Assistants, that totally makes sense! Basically, just as the name of their debut EP suggests, they're giving their own interpretations of all the various cultures that have sprung up in indiepop.
