When they first came around in 2019, the Jeanines were the Slumberland band I was most excited about by a wide margin. They do these fast and short jangle pop songs with really sweet, echoey vocals. It's a formula that's really pretty hard to top when you're looking for a 20-25 minute burst of energy. Their band bio on the Slumberland website compares them to artists like Dear Nora or Pam Berry's post-Black Tambourine groups like Glo-Worm or the Shapiros, and especially that latter comparison is pretty accurate, but what I always sort of got from them was more of a Vivian Girls type of sound, albeit with much cleaner production. I finally saw this band live earlier this year, and I swear, it felt like every song was false started by one of them laughing; luckily they're such a charming band that that just felt like part of the fun of a Jeanines show!
