I first heard Katie the Pest on some compilation I don't even remember the name of now, which probably featured a lot of well-mannered indiepop as such things often do. That wasn't really the case for Katie the Pest, who instead had an insistent, plodding drum beat, a really spiky guitar, and some ominous harmonies and not much else. That's right, they were a duo! And Texas Two aside, probably the noisiest one I've heard (and especially the noisiest without overdubs). As always, I'll caveat this by saying that I'm only really familiar with their 2000s work, where Katie the Pest is a duo of Talia and Mary, so I can't speak to what anything after that sounds like (though since Bandcamp has credits for a trombone player on Other Cities, Other Girls, my assumption is it sounds quite different!)
