When they first started out, Oh-OK were a trio that were unique for not having a guitarist; instead, they just had Linda and Lynda singing (including one of my favorite vocal tricks, call-and-response vocals), Lynda playing bass, and David Pierce playing drums. It was this wonderfully minimal and groovy sound that I'm absolutely head-over-heels for! Alas, as they got bigger, they ended up bringing in future power pop star Matthew Sweet as a guitarist. The EP he was on isn't bad, per se, in fact I enjoy it fairly well! It's just not as unique, and doesn't feel quite as playful. Both EPs are well worth your time though!
