Orange Juice (and frontman Edwyn Collins) are easily one of the biggest names in the genre. Even now, more than 40 years after their first single, all sorts of indiepop bands are still using their name (and that of their first label, Postcard Records) as a shorthand for a particular type of jangle pop (albeit, not one that Orange Juice was ever really an example of). Their development from a ramshackle little post-punk band early on, to an indiepop band more influenced by soul than would be the case for their successors, and finally to a funk rock band similar to Speaking in Tongues-era Talking Heads is one of the most rewarding things in the genre to me. A word of caution: the albums after Rip It Up are really hurt by the band's inability to maintain a steady lineup, and are extremely uneven. But the first two and Glasgow School are everything that's good about indiepop.
