If you're looking for an introduction to the post-Smiths indiepop scene in England, you could certainly do worse than looking into the Primitives. They sort of find a balance between noise and jangle pop that they managed to briefly have a whole lot of success with! Early on, their independent singles tend to be more focused on the noisy end of the spectrum, but as their career goes on they get more polished and focus more on the jangle pop part. For me (and for most), their first album, Lovely, is where they strike the perfect balance between the two.
