Salem 66 are a fairly standard American jangle pop band, about contemporaneous with R.E.M.'s early work. They've got two singers in Judy Grunwald and Beth Kaplan, but unlike my favorite bands of the period, they mostly stick to typical harmonizing instead of overlapping vocal lines, unfortunately. The thing that's kind of odd about them is that they released their music on Homestead Records, a label which (at least to me) is much more associated with noise rock bands like Big Black or Dinosaur Jr.
