It's hard for me to explain exactly what I mean, but usually jangle pop sounds different based on the country it comes from. On the other hand, the Someloves sound much more like the jangle pop that was coming out of the United States (I guess the main thing is it sounds more grounded, if that makes sense?) at the time than they do like their own contemporaries like the Go-Betweens or the Triffids. Of course, considering that their songs were produced by Mitch Easter, it's not totally unexpected that they'd end up sounding a bit more like his work. Among jangle pop aficionados, my understanding is that these guys are considered a bit of a lost classic of the genre.
