Some Velvet Sidewalk don't sound too much like indiepop as it ended up developing, at least to my ears, though that's because they pre-date most of it, obviously. They call it "love rock", and as they play it it's sort of like halfway between Beat Happening and a post-hardcore band? After thinking about it a bit, I think I actually hear a lot of them in riot grrrl more than indiepop; in particular something like Tobi Vail's songs for Bikini Kill sound clearly like someone who was once a part of this band.
