I was at a Tony Molina show a little bit ago, and as the set was wrapping up he made an off-hand comment about how it was one of the longest shows he'd ever played. It clocked in at somewhere around 45 minutes as a headliner! It's not that he has a lack of songs or anything, it's that he's a master of writing these perfect one-minute songs. He initially started out with a noisy sort of power pop that draws comparisons to artists like Weezer and Teenage Fanclub; he hasn't really done anything in that mode for years, but it's still the primary association for a lot of people (myself included). Basically ever since Confront the Truth, he's been floating in a space between like "Strawberry Fields Forever", "Mr. Tambourine Man", and Dear Nora's albums. It's not quite as viscerally exciting as Dissed and Dismissed was, but it's lovely, and no one else is doing it quite like him.
