Not strictly indiepop (a phrase I find myself writing for most of the artists I have the inspiration to write up), but undoubtedly important on the development of the genre. It's post-punk stripped down to the bare essentials: rudimentary drum machine, bassline, a guitar or organ riff, and coolly detached vocals. Colossal Youth sounds almost skeletal the way it's been drained of every last vestige of energy, and we wouldn't have it any other way. The Salad Days compilation is mostly demo versions of the same songs, which have a bit of a darker sound verging on minimal wave.
