Came across this one while looking at the CD that Jigsaw Records had in stock; they described it as a combination of Kitty Craft, the Go! Team, and Le Tigre. I personally don't care too much for the Go! Team, but I think Kitty Craft is neat, and I love Le Tigre's s/t, so that's all I really needed to give this a listen.
Basically, it ended up being exactly what was promised; there are a few songs that feel like Kitty Craft and a few songs that feel like Le Tigre (I don't know the Go! Team well enough to know how much it sounds like them). But more importantly, there's a whole lot of Brill Building to this, as befits an album formed out of thrift store vinyl samples. That's great news for me, because it means that half these songs have these absolutely beautiful sections with vocals that sound faraway and extremely echoey.
Generally, I don't think the songs here are as strong as on something like Beats and Breaks From the Flower Patch, but it makes up for it by having a sound palette that panders more to my own particular taste in music. But if you're a fan of that album, you owe it to yourself to check this one out too.
